William Edward Bland

William Edward Bland, 90 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 1:04 p.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on December 21, 1928 in Taylorville, IL the son of Thomas J. and Julia (Smith) Bland Sr. He married Glenna H. Hubler on August 11, 1951 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville and she preceded him in death. Bill worked as a Dairy Farmer for Jeff Bland Dairy, Material Supervisor at Hopper Paper Company and he retired from the Taylorville Street Department.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, IL, Knights of Columbus and was a social member of the VFW post #4495.

He is survived by his Sons: Jeffrey M. (Janet) Bland of Taylorville, IL; Dennis E. (Kelly) Bland of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Sabrina Bland, Sadie Furman, Will Bland and Polly Bland; Great-Grandchildren: Aaron, Andrew and Lucy Furman; Liam and Oliver Bland; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Brother Thomas J. Bland Jr. and Sister Patricia Jenkins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Msgr. David Lantz officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.
