Theresa Mae (Miller) Van Ostran

Theresa Mae (Miller) Van Ostran, 76 of Edinburg passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 11:52 a.m. at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville. She was born on July 10, 1940 in Montgomery County, IL the Daughter of Harrison and Beatrice (Robinson) Miller. Theresa married John Van Ostran on November 17, 1956, and they spent over 54 wonderful years together. Theresa enjoyed working along-side John splitting wood and doing anything outdoors – Camping, fishing, gardening, and mowing. She also liked doing jigsaw puzzles and playing rummy 500. She was a full-time homemaker and devoted wife, mom, and grandma.

Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, son Dale Van Ostran, and grandson David Van Ostran as well as her parents, sisters Imogene Greenwood and Verda Driscoll, and brothers Elmer, Kenneth and Richard Miller. Theresa is survived by her children-Karen (Bob) Jones, Steven Van Ostran, Bonnie Van Ostran, and Rodney Van Ostran; grandchildren Sarah Jane Young, Annie (Andrew) Halsema, Heather Stanley (Fiancé Brandon Wellman), Aubrey (Jerrod) Marfell, Emily Van Ostran, and Amanda Van Ostran, and several Great-Grandchildren. Other surviving family include her sister Frances Kaiser, brothers Leonard (Melba) Miller and Warren (Hazel) Miller, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home with Helen Dayle Badman officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery in rural Palmer.
