Shirley Arlene Tarrant

Shirley Arlene Tarrant, 80 of Taylorville passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 8:50 p.m. at her residence in Taylorville. She was born on January 3, 1937 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of George and Marcella (Durbin) Bresh. She married Donald Joseph Tarrant on August 29, 1953 in Taylorville, IL. He later preceded her in death on October 18, 2009. Shirley worked as a cashier at IGA and as a homemaker. She was a Member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and the C.D.A. She was a cub scout den mother and a girl scout leader. Shirley loved spending her time painting pictures, reading, working in the garden, and playing the banjo.   

Surviving are her Sons: Douglas (Maureen) Tarrant of Taylorville, IL, Brian Tarrant and Fiancée Marla Sanders of Stonington, IL, Stephen (Cindy) Tarrant of Mahomet, IL, Joseph (Melanie) Tarrant of Morrisonville, IL; Daughter: Deborah (David) Hill of Springfield, IL; Grandchildren: Ryan Hill, Heather (Chris) Winkler, Jonathon Tarrant, Kristina (David) Hebert, Sarah (Dan) McNeely, Kelly (Matt) Murphy, Madelyn (Nick) Jones, Jessica Tarrant and Companion Gary Codwell, Angie (Phil) Miller, Katelynn Tarrant, Alison Tarrant, Jacob (Katie) Tarrant; Great-Grandchildren: Grace Winkler, Gabby Winkler, Alex Tarrant, Damien Tarrant, Alexander Tarrant,  Noah Hebert, Evan Hebert, Sadie Murphy, Fiona Suslee, Thea Suslee, Delilah McNeely, Mason Tarrant, Trenton Tarrant, Gabe Bell, Hunter Tarrant, Lidia Jones, Jada Tarrant, Samone Brownlee, Makyia Brownlee, Riley Miller; Sisters: Georgianna (Jerry) Pagliai of Bulpitt, IL, Marlena Gartshore of Taylorville, IL; Several nieces, nephews, and cousins; Beloved Pets: Troopper and Foxy. She was preceded in death by her parents: George and Marcella Bresh; Husband: Donald Joseph (Joe) Tarrant; son: George Gregory Tarrant; sister: Mary Bresh; grandson: Jarod Tarrant; grandson in law: Japeth Suslee.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville. The funeral service will follow the visitation starting at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with MSGR David S Lantz officiating. Burial will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.
