Robert Ellis

Robert Ellis, 66 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 5:17 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on July 25, 1952 in Lincoln, IL the son of Jack and Mary Helen (Lee) Ellis. He married Sandy Johnson and she preceded him in death. Robert worked as a bricklayer in the Bricklayers Union Local #8 in Springfield, IL. The world has lost a good, kind, gentle man.  His friends called him Cowboy. Although he had many endearing qualities, the one that stands out for many was his incredible wit. Cowboy would deliver a hilarious one line zinger when you least expected it.

He is survived by his Companion: Veronica Tex of Taylorville, IL; Brothers: Jerry (Brenda) Ellis of Canton, IL; Sisters: Rosanne Unser of Bloomington, IL; Colleen Harvey of Mt. Zion, IL; Nieces: Keri Ellis, Shanel Snyders, Destany Martin, Leigh Anne and Jamie Unser, Brittany Ellis, Nephews: Todd Ellis, Stephen and Ryan Ellis, Jeff Martin, Karl Krotz; Great-Nieces: Taylor, Erika and Olivia Ellis, Avery and Emery Ellis, Morgan Martin, Ragan and Paige Snyders, Brilee Sams; Great- Nephews: Jacob Ellis, Ben Muncy and Levi Bounds, Clayton, Dylan and Parker Snyders, Eli Ellis, Drake Sams and several Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Brother: Steve Ellis, Sister Marlene Krotz, Brother-in-Law: Keith Krotz, Nephew: Jayson Ellis, Great- Nephews: Kyle and Doug Muncy.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor Tiney Walker officiating.

Memorials may be made to his Nephew and Nieces college fund C/O Sutton Memorial Home 327 N. Clay St. Taylorville, IL 62568.
