Ralph James Fiaoni

Ralph James Fiaoni, 93 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 12:07 p.m. at his home in Taylorville, IL. He was born on June 13, 1926 in Kincaid, IL the son of Gabriel and Lenora (Giovagnoli) Fiaoni. He married his wife of 69 years, Joan A. Giovagnoli on June 3, 1950 in Taylorville, IL. Ralph retired as a foreman at CIPS after working for 36 years. He proudly served as Corporal in the 30th Infantry Regiment of the 3rd Infantry Division of the 7th Army World War II (1944-1946). During his time in the war he earned several decorations including a Purple Heart. When he returned from service, he became a member of the VFW Post #4495 in Taylorville, St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Taylorville Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his Wife: Joan Fiaoni of Taylorville; Sons: John (Treva) Fiaoni of Taylorville; Dave (Laura) Fiaoni of Arlington , TX; Mike (Cathy) Fiaoni of Licking, MO; Grandchildren: Cory Fiaoni and Companion Amanda; Phillip (Emily) Fiaoni; Robert, Thomas and Gracie Fiaoni; Rebecca McNeal and Stanford McNeal Jr; Great-Grandchildren: Preston and Zayn; Sister: Betty Mazzotti; Sister-in-Law: Norene Dixon; Nephews Lynn Dixon, Gary and Larry Mazzotti; Nieces: Marlene Ladley and Jill Dixon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brother: Angelo (Helen) Fiaoni; Brothers-in-Law: Don Mazzotti and Jack Dixon; Nephews: Rick Fiaoni and Scott Dixon. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL with military graveside honors.
