Phyllis Louise Moomey, 82, of Taylorville, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 3:29 a.m. at her home in Taylorville, IL. She was born on November 5, 1940 in Jacksonville, IL, the daughter of Francis Cleo and Beatrice Grace (Burke) Richey. She married Ronald Moomey in Nokomis, IL, and they later divorced. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville and the Taylorville Red Hat Ladies. Phyllis loved animals and would take in any strays. She was a very giving person with a big heart.  Phyllis also loved music and enjoyed a good concert, where she could be seen dancing and singing along.  She especially loved to hear her granddaughter, Kayleigh, sing. 

She is survived by her significant other: Lyle “Spike” Woodard of Taylorville, IL; children: Cathy (Larry) Mizeur of Owaneco, IL; Renee (Dave) Coppock of Billings, MT; Peggi (Mark) Cisco of Stonington, IL; step-children: Sandra (Resa) Mastali of Celebration, FL; Kari Dunn of Shelbyville, IL; daughter-in-law: Velia Moomey of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Kate (Randy) Temain of Taylorville, IL; Kenneth Moomey Jr. of Taylorville, IL; Paul Mizeur  of Taylorville, IL; Mark (Jayme) Mizeur of Assumption, IL; Cierra Coppock of Bellingham, WA; Josh (Stephanie) Cisco of Mt. Auburn, IL; Kayleigh Cisco and Fiancé John Whalen of Coffeen, IL; Nicole Cisco of Stonington, IL, and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two children: Mark Allen and Kenneth Lee Moomey.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 10:00-12:00 noon at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation starting at 12:00 noon at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Father Piotr Kosk officiating. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Christian County Animal Control.
