Michael Kolenich

Michael J. Kolenich, 60, of Girard, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at his residence. He was born on March 11, 1962 in Auburn, IL, the son of Andrew John Kolenich and Joyce Darlene Grossner. He married Sallie McMillan on April 5, 1994 in Springfield, Illinois. Mike was an Army National Guard Veteran and worked as a Plant Operator for the Otter Lake Water Commission. He volunteered for the Auburn Rescue Squad and Fire Department for 19 years. Michael loved fishing, riding his Harley and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife: Sallie Kolenich; children: Ashley Yoakum and Jason Sharp of Auburn, IL; Miranda (Austin) Peters of Taylorville, IL; Madison Kolenich of Chatham, IL; Grandchildren: Addilynn Sharp and Allison Peters; mother: Joyce Kolenich of Auburn, IL; Sisters: Cynthia (Dave) Jones of Divernon, IL; Monica (Sean) O’Rourke of Athens, IL; and Susan (Kevin) Crum of Springfield, IL. He is preceded in death by his father: Andrew John Kolenich; and granddaughter: Addison Sharp.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Airsman & Calvert Funeral Home in Girard, IL. Funeral service will take place immediately after at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to The Auburn Rescue Squad.
