Leticia Diane Champley

On Friday, June 28, 2019 at 4:00 pm, surrounded by her loving family, Leticia Diane Champley, passed away at the age of 70. Diane was born on March 21, 1949 in Taylorville, IL to Evan Hershel and Stella Sparling. On November 28, 1965 she married Joseph Frances Champley. She received her certification as a beautician in 1966 and worked in this field for 16 years. In 1982 she began work as a teachers aid for the Taylorville Community School District until retiring in 2004. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joseph and children Joseph (Wife Debra) Champley, Michael (Wife Bobbi) Champley and Rebecca Champley; grandchildren: Tanner, Evan and Lia Champley, Ryan and Katie Womack, Payton Champley and Leighton Morrissey; great-grandchild Ella Womack all of Taylorville, IL; Sister: Linda (Tom) Marini of Dixon, IL and niece Pamela McConnell, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Diane considered her grandchildren as the light of her life and selflessly devoted herself to caring for her husband, children, grandchildren and family. She enjoyed her weekly coffee club meetings with her special cousins and niece. Diane was preceded in death by her father Hershel, mother Stella, sister Patricia Emerling and niece Barbie Emerling. Visitation will be held in Monday, July 1, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Msgr. David Lantz officiating.
