Lester Althoff

Lester Althoff, 90, of Taylorville, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 7:38 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born April 30, 1925 in Effingham, IL, the Son of Aloysius and Helena (Swingler) Althoff. He married Irene Flach on April 30, 1952 in Effingham, IL. He was a retired insurance salesman for Country Companies. He was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville and a member of the Taylorville Knights of Columbus for over 50 years. 

He is survived by his Wife: Irene of Taylorville, IL; Children: Daniel (Betty) Althoff of Ft. Myers. FL; Mark Althoff of Taylorville, IL; Mary Althoff-Manning of Los Gatos, CA; Rita (Melvin) Repscher of Taylorville IL; Susan (Dan) Myher of Dublin, OH; Tony Althoff of Taylorville, IL; Teresa (Ron) Wiltsie of Edinburg, IL; Paul (Sue) Althoff of Taylorville, IL; Ken (Stephanie) Althoff of Taylorville, IL; Anita (Randall) Cathcart of O’Fallon, MO; Thirty Grandchildren; Twenty-one Great-Grandchildren; Brother: Norbert Althoff of Effingham, IL; Sister: Marilyn Gangloff of Triplett, Mo; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Grandchild Ryan Wiltsie, Great-Grandchild Kiley Beckmier, Sisters: Mildred Althoff, Verena Sur, Brother: Arthur Althoff; Daughter-in-Law Kim Althoff.

Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with MSGR. David Lantz officiating. Burial will be in Owaneco Cemetery in Owaneco, IL with military graveside honors. Visitation will be held Monday, October 19, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.
