Leland Wayne LeFever

October 18, 1936 — April 1, 2019

Leland Wayne LeFever, 82 of Palmer passed away on April1, 2019 at 11:18 am at Life’s Journey Senior Living Center in Taylorville, IL.  He was born on October 18, 1936 in rural Taylorville, IL the son of Wayne Jacob and Mildred Irene (Prasun) LeFever.  He married Nola Vincent on March 24, 1957 in Stonington, IL.  Leland began his hardworking background at A & P Grocery Store loading and unloading trucks with several friendly competitions of who could stack the boxes higher between the city boys or the good ole country boys. Then onto several welding jobs locally only to end up doing what he loved the most, farming and raising cattle for over 60 years.  Along the way he also had a disc sharpening business from his country home and a crop insurance adjuster in his spare time.  He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of Morrisonville, IL.  Leland proudly was a member of the local Ansar Shrine, a 50-year member of the Morrisonville Lodge #681 AF & AM, Twist ‘n Twirl Square Dance Club, and served for several years on the Morrisonville School Board. His comical personality always left everyone walking away with a smile on their face; he never knew a stranger. Leland had a knack of making friends and starting conversations where ever he went.  His love of music was apparent through the humming and whistling he was always known for.   And the occasional changing of the words in the tunes to draw a chuckle from his family. You could always hear him in the stands cheering on his children and grandchildren at their sporting events.

Leland’s love of his family will shine on for years through his living legacy; his wife, Nola, 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  He is survived by his children: Steve LeFever of Morrisonville; Susan (Joe) Saputo of Rochester; Sara (Jason) Wake of Tovey; Stacey (Tom) Kirkman of Williamsville; Grandchildren: Renea (Rob) Coberly, Stephanie LeFever, Jen (Thom) Blinkinsop, Andrew Owens, Greg (Sarah) Owens, Gabe Owens, Haylee Kirkman, Zach Wake, Vincent Wake, Aubrey Kirkman, Lilly Wake and Wesley Kirkman; Great-Grandchildren; Camryn, Cooper and Callum Coberly and Henry Owens; his only sibling: Elaine (Fred) Vangeison and Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
