Karen Mae Macke

Karen Mae Macke, 77 of Sherman, formerly of Taylorville, passed away on August 3, 2023 at The Villas West in Sherman, IL. Karen was born on September 21, 1945, in Paris, IL, to the late Truman and Freda (Ross) Morgan. She married Denny Joe Macke on March 25, 1965, in Marshall, IL and he preceded her in death.

For many years Karen was a in-home daycare provider then after graduating with an associate’s degree, Karen went on to work as a registered nurse for many years. She will be remembered for the kindness and compassion she showed her daycare children and patients.  She was an active member at Way of Life Church in Taylorville and loved spending time with her family.

Karen is survived by her daughter: Annette (David) Booth; son: Terry (Laura) Macke; grandchildren: TJ (Holly) Macke; Benjamin (Lyndie) Macke; Sierra Macke; Jonah (Kayla) Macke; great-grandchildren: Elleanor and Sawyer Macke; sister: Kay Rentfrow; brothers: Darrell Morgan and Leland Morgan; as well as her sister-in-law, Jeannette Morgan, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Truman and Freda Morgan; her husband: Denny Macke; daughter: Kathy Macke-Hayes; her granddaughter: Ashley Hayes and brother: Donald Morgan.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, from 10:00 am -12:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Stan Prat officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.
