Joyce Graves

Joyce Graves, 91, of Pana, IL, formerly of Taylorville, IL, passed away on January 19, 2023, at Heritage Health in Pana, IL. Joyce was born on September 17, 1931, in Springfield, MA, the daughter of Oren B. and Lucille (Turnquest) VanMeter. Joyce married Harold E. Graves on May 23, 1951, divorcing after 50 years of marriage.

Joyce was survived by her children, Deborah (Stephen) Stepp and Rick Graves of Waco, TX; grandchildren, Monica (Kaleb) Placek of Austin, TX, Jason R. Stepp of Baltimore, MD, Justin E. Stepp of Taylorville, IL, and Jeffrey (Stephanie) Stepp of Springfield, IL; two granddaughters in Honduras; great-grandchildren, Haiden Stepp of Taylorville, IL, Juni Joyce Stepp, Brayden Murphy and Sydney Murphy of Springfield, IL.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold Graves and her son, Steven Graves.

Her passion for life was being one of Jehovah Witness, where she spent a lot of time studying the bible and sharing what she learned with others.

She was a proud member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Taylorville.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. There are no services planned at this time.
