Joseph R. Hayes, 85, of Taylorville, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 3:50 a.m. at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville. He was born July 17, 1929 in Edmonton, KY the son of Lucian and Delcie (Walbert) Hayes. He married Flossie Mae Walbert on September 11, 1948 in Edmonton, KY and she later preceded him in death on February 6, 2005. He was a retired Farmer. He was a member of Taylorville Southern Baptist Church.
He is survived by his Sons: Donald E. (Cinda L.) Hayes of Palmer, Carl “Brad” (Tammy K.) Hayes of Taylorville. Grandchildren: Jacque (Chris) Huddleston of Taylorville, Donald Cathorall of Champaign, IL, Willard Joseph Hayes , Jennifer Zimmerly of Peoria, IL, Lori Noll of Pendleton, Indiana, Melodi (Mike) Stewart of Palmer, IL, Missie Coulter of Thomasboro, IL, Thomas (Jennifer) Poenitske of Swansea, IL , Crystal Stubbs and companion Rob Stoldt of Taylorville, Michelle (Nik) Ackley of Taylorville; Brother: Rex Hayes of Crawfordsville, IN. He is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren. Three foster great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Burial will be in Old Stonington Cemetery in Stonington, IL. Visitation will be held Monday, July 13, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.
