Jana Dowdy

Jana Rae Dowdy, 74 of Taylorville, IL went home to be with the lord on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 2:10 p.m. at Life’s Journey in Taylorville. She had been suffering from a disease called cortico basil degeneration (CBD) for the past 6-7 years. 

She was born on September 4, 1941 in Morrison, IL the daughter of Earl and Lucille (Stonesifer) Salzmann.  She married Larry Dowdy on October 6, 1962 in Hooppole, IL.

Survivors include her husband: Larry Dowdy, son: Tod (Mary) Dowdy of Carlinville, IL, daughter: Lana (Joe) Schaeffer of Charlestown, IN,  six grandchildren: Phil (Kayla) Schaeffer of Memphis, IN, Seth (Kayla) Schaeffer of Charlestown, IN, Aaron (Cara) Schaeffer of Newburgh, IN, Marcus Schaeffer of Charlestown, IN, Amanda (Justin) Frankford of Carlinville, IL, BreeAnn Dowdy of Mooresville, NC, four great grandchildren: Bella Schaeffer, Aiden Schaeffer, Rowan Schaeffer, and Braylee Frankford, sister: Sherry Sherman of Temecula, CA, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers: Wayne Salzmann and Darell Salzmann.

Jana had worked as a secretary/ Bookkeeper. After retirement she did a lot of church volunteer work prior to getting ill. She was very artistic, a devout Christian and she loved the outdoors, wildlife, and Birds.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, officiants will be Reverend Dayle Badman and Reverend Chad Foster.  Burial will follow at Anderson Cemetery in Palmer, IL.
