Geraldine L. Dodson

Geraldine L. Dodson, 92 of Moweaqua, IL, passed away at 10:00 a.m. on June 13, 2023 at her residence. She was born on July 26, 1930 in Blue Mound, IL, to the late Floyd B. Mitchell and Ruby Mitchell Gowdy. She married Edward Dodson on September 15, 1951 in Taylorville, IL and he preceded her in death on January 24, 2022. Geraldine was a talented, self-employed seamstress and will be remembered for the kindness and love she showed to all animals.

She is survived by her daughter: Bonnie (Terry) Younker of Moweaqua, IL; grandchildren: Sean (Joyce) Stacey; Angie Hatley; Chad (Tasha) Younker; Brian (Aimee) Younker; sixteen great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren; and brother: Vernon (Karen) Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor James Jones officiating. Inurnment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Memorials in Geraldine’s honor may be made to the Christian County Animal Control.
