Elma Elizabeth Patrick

Elma Elizabeth Patrick, 98, of Taylorville, IL, passed away on February 28, 2023, at Taylorville Care Center. Elma was born at home on March 9, 1924, in Christian County, IL, the daughter of William and Edith (Parsons) Gilpin. She married Orrin Aloysius Patrick on September 20, 1941 in Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1987.

She is survived by her 12 children: sons,  Leslie (Sandy) Patrick, Jack (Jean) Patrick, Wade Patrick, David (Tate) Patrick, Dwight (Kim) Patrick, Duane (Kathy) Patrick;  daughters, Beulah (Lester) Crawford , Sandy (Bob) Young, Glenda (Mike) Brown, Shirley (Bob) Etherton, Barb (Joe) Gillock, and Bonnie (Rick) Clayton; 31 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great grandchild; as well as several step-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carol Patrick and several nieces and nephews.

Elma was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Steven Patrick; one great granddaughter, Shelby Powers; one great-grandson, Beau KirkPatrick; sons-in-law, Howard Clark, Lyle Brown and Larry Gideon.

Apart from raising her 12 children, she worked at Memorial hospital in housekeeping. Elma enjoyed quilting and road trips, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her large family.

A visitation for Elma will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00- p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Charlie Carver officiating. Interment will follow at Edinburg Cemetery in Edinburg, IL.
