Daniel D. McConnell

Daniel D. McConnell, 67 of Edinburg passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 5:07 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on December 8, 1953 in Springfield, IL the son of Robert and Louise (Coffey) McConnell. He married Patricia J. Davidson in 1979 in Decatur, IL. Danny graduated Edinburg High School. Shortly thereafter he began working at Borg-Warner in Decatur where he met his wife Patty. He had several other careers before beginning a 15+ year long career at Dekalb.  He loved taking grandkids fishing, hunting for night crawlers, teaching them how to garden, and take care of his beloved labradors. He was a great gardener, grew the biggest vegetables around. His pumpkins grew so big needed a tractor to move them for the kids to play on at the Annual McConnell Woodsplitting Cookout. 

He is survived by his Wife: Patty McConnell of Edinburg, IL; Daughter: Mindy Barnett of Decatur, IL; Son: Brent (Teri) Barnett of Springfield, IL; Grandchildren: Sydney, Samantha and Brinley Barnett; Sisters: Sharon (Ron) Sutzer of Chatham, IL, Mardell (Melinda) McConnell of Carlinville, IL; Brothers: Bobby (Toni) McConnell of Oklahoma, Gary (Debbie) McConnell of Kincaid, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daughter: Brandy McConnell and Brother: Lyndon McConnell. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021 starting at 10:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Gerald McPhillips officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery in rural Sharpsburg, IL.
