Clay Durham

Clay Durham, 93 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 5:28 p.m. in his home in Taylorville. He was born on February 10, 1926 in Taylorville, IL the Son of Julius and Floy (Cook) Durham. He married Betty Jean Ward on September 27, 1946 in Taylorville, IL and she preceded him in death on September 9, 2018. He was a retired postal worker and a veteran of WWII in the United States Navy serving on the LST 1040 in the Pacific China Sea and Yangtze River.

Surviving are his Son: Ted (Bev) Durham of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Anji Durham of Springfield, IL; Lisa (Adam) Reeter of Taylorville, IL; Aaron Durham of Taylorville, IL; Christopher (Frankie) Durham of Pana; Kenton (Chelsie) Durham of Ohlman, IL; Fifteen Great-Grandchildren; One Great-Great-Grandchild; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Son: Thomas R. Durham, Brother and sister-in-Law: Russell “Rusty” (Janiece) Durham; Brother: James Durham and Sisters: Rosalie Weiman and Laurel Quaid.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. The funeral service will follow the visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Burial will be held in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville, IL with military graveside honors.
