Charles Edward DeClerck

Charles Edward DeClerck, 93, of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 6:25 p.m. at his home in Taylorville, IL. He was born on February 10, 1929 in Assumption, IL the son of John and Mary (Adams) DeClerck. He married Dolores I. Rentfrow on November 24, 1949 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, IL and she preceded him in death on September 23, 2006. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington, IL and he served as a Christian County Board member for many years as well as several other civic boards.

He is survived by a Daughter: Janet DeClerck of Taylorville, IL, Son: Tom (Tracy) DeClerck of Stonington, IL, Grandchildren: Trent (Wendy) DeClerck of Stonington, IL; Travis (LE) DeClerck, Of Frisco, CO, Treena (Kevin) Brown of Stonington, IL; Charlee Kocurek of Taylorville, IL; Kyle (Jessica) Kocurek of Edinburg, IL, Great-Grandchildren: Drew (Dallas) DeClerck, Lance DeClerck, Lacey DeClerck, Avery DeClerck, Olin DeClerck, Dylan Brown, Tyler Brown, Braxton Dickey and Jayce Kocurek, Sisters: Mary Margaret Morrison of Pueblo, CO; Nora Peters of Taylorville, IL; Fran (Fred) McKinnon of Taylorville, IL. Sisters-in-law: Ida DeClerck of Stonington, IL and Evelyn Eileen Jackson of Taylorville, IL, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by: parents, wife, grandson: Stephen Kocurek Jr., Brothers: Bernard, Jack, Connie and Wayne, Sisters: Cecelia Sutton and Agnes Meyer.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington, IL with Father Frederick Chima Mbiere officiating. Burial will be in Ponting Cemetery in Stonington, IL.

As a celebration of Charlie's life at this special date and time, there are so many great things to cherish. His instituting of those tractor pulls, his farming expertise, his fatherly love and examples of a devoted husband will leave such an influence for all his immediate family. Just to first meet him is to love and respect such a gregarious guy who was always ready with that special smile and hello, and what can I do for you or anyone. God love you and thank you for all the wonderful memories of years gone by. We are blessed to have known him, and we will miss seeing him in those familiar places in Christian County.

With some people, it only takes one encounter to know they are the kind of people we should strive to become. Such was the case with Mr. DeClerck. A good man who I am sure his loved ones will miss him. May he bring more joy to heaven.
