Ceasar Gianasi, 91, of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11:00 p.m. at the Villa Clara skilled nursing facility in Decatur. He was born on June 20, 1929 in Taylorville Township, the son of Louis and Mary (Bassana) Gianasi. He married Judith Rose Leonard on June 26, 1966 in Springfield, IL. He worked as a manufacturing engineer at Allis-Chalmers and Fiat-Allis in Springfield, Sheller-Globe in Herrin, and Warner-Ishi in Shelbyville. Ceasar was a Democratic precinct committeeman and Taylorville Township trustee. He was an avid golfer and could be found on the links nearly every day. Ceasar also played clarinet in the Taylorville Municipal Band for over 60 years. Ceasar served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Taylorville Eagles Aerie 1425, the V.F.W. Post 4495, and the American Legion Post 73, in Taylorville.
Surviving are his sons: Louis (Christi) Gianasi of Springfield, IL and Michael Gianasi of Taylorville, IL; and step-granddaughter Kathryn Meyer of Springfield, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Due to COVID-19, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
