Betty Burton, 97 of Stonington passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 12:48 p.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL. She was born on July 20, 1924 in Stonington, IL the daughter of John and Susie (Galbraith) Davis. She married Carl Burton on October 31, 1946 in Stonington, IL and he preceded her in death on December 17, 2010. She worked at the Illiopolis Ammunition Plant During WWII and then later was a homemaker. Betty was a member of the Stonington United Methodist Church in Stonington, IL.

She is survived by her daughter: Lisa (Jim) Brown of Decatur, IL; son: Mark Burton of Springfield, IL; grandchildren: Barbara Kearny of Prairieville, LA, Jerry Burton of Taylorville, IL, Alex Shamloo of Decatur, IL Lindsey (Ross) Munsterman of Mt. Zion, IL and Cody Burton of Texarkana, TX; great-grandchildren: Logan of Prairieville, LA; Brandon Kerney of Lebanon, MO; Reagen Burton if Texarkana, TX and Rowen Munsterman; Great-Great-Granddaughter: Neveah Kearney of Georgia; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Son: Dennis Burton, Brothers: John and Dewy, Sisters: Rena and Lottie.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Graveside service will follow the visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at Old Stonington Cemetery in Stonington, IL with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Illinois Chapter 2309 W. White Oaks Drive Suite E. Springfield, IL 62704.

Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
