Ashley Marie Karaianis-Lucas

Ashley Marie Karaianis-Lucas, 24 of Decatur formerly of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 10:23 p.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL. She was born on December 26, 1996 in Springfield, IL the daughter of Betty Karaianis and Rick Reid and raised by Delores Lucas and Jennifer Verardi. She worked as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist at Crossings in Decatur and she also served 4 years in the United States Marine Corps.

She is survived by her parents: Betty Karaianis and Rick Reid; Aunt: Jennifer (Nick) Verardi of Langleyville, IL; Twin-Sister: Sara (Jamie) Ibarra of San Diego, CA; Cousins: Victoria and Vinny Verardi who she considered her siblings and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers: Delores Lucas and Geraldine Drnjevic.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021 starting at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Chad Foster officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL.
