Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Anna Benda, “Moo”, age 98, of South Daytona, Florida, passed away on May 25, 2016. Anna was born in Bingham, Illinois on July 4, 1917. Anna valued her time spent with family and friends. She enjoyed many hobbies including, sewing, gardening, crocheting and knitting. She was an active member of the RLDS Church. Following her husband Edwin’s retirement in 1977, she moved to Orange Park, Florida and later settled in South Daytona in 1979.
Anna is survived by her two daughters and one son, Dorothy Larson (Lonnie) of Port Orange, Florida, Roger Benda of Jacksonville, Florida and Nancy Dockendorf (James) of Somonauk, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, William Matthew and Anna Harris; husband, Edwin Benda; 8 brothers and sisters; and granddaughter, Dana Dockendorf.
A Celebration of her life was held at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, Florida 32129 at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016. Funeral will be at Liberty Church, Bingham, Illinois at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 with Rev. Harry Kirk Officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral. Anna will be laid to rest next to her loving husband Edwin at Liberty Cemetery in Bingham, Illinois.
Memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society. The family of Anna wishes to thank everyone for their continued thoughts and prayers.
