Gloria Ann Lynch, age 85, and a Pana resident for over sixty years, went home to our Lord on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 with family by her side. Gloria was born in St. Elmo, Illinois on January 10, 1933 to Fred and Maude (Hicks) Miller. The family lived in St. Elmo before later moving to Assumption. Gloria attended school in Assumption, where she was a cheerleader in the 1940’s. She was gifted with an artistic talent and was also a very skilled seamstress. Gloria worked at various factory jobs before becoming a wife and homemaker. She and William “Bill” J. Lynch Jr. were married on December 31, 1952 in Assumption, Illinois. Gloria was well-known among family and friends for being an excellent cook and was especially known for her pies and noodles. Gloria was a devout Christian and later became a minister. She was a member of the Association of International Gospel Assemblies for many years.
Surviving Gloria are her son, Donald (Suzanne) Lynch of rural Pana, and her daughter, Lynn (Neil) Perkins of rural Tower Hill. She is also survived by grandchildren, Ben (Dawn) Lynch of Columbia, Illinois; Will (Tina) Perkins of Pana; Lyndsey (Ryan) Harbaugh of Brownsburg, Indiana; and Libby (Michael) Almeida of Bloomington, Illinois. Great-grandchildren are Carter Lynch, Colt Perkins, Eli, Logan and Lucas Harbaugh. Gloria is survived by her sister, Stella (Charley) Nelson of Shelbyville and her brother David (Bonnie) Miller of Pana. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents in 1959 and 1960; her husband, Bill on September 4, 2006; and their son, William (Billy) J. Lynch III on November 15, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her infant brother, Fred; her three-year-old brother, Donald and her brother, Gene, in 2002.
Funeral services for Gloria will be on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Pana First United Methodist Church, 619 Kitchell Avenue Pana, IL, with Pastor Amanda Richards presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service starting at 8:30AM, and the memorial service will begin at 9:30AM. Everyone is invited to attend.
